May 31, 2007 - Project : Overdose
Bringing back that heavy metal, demon smashing, battle out of hell we love and need!
Mindware studios claims that the scope of the project is unprecedented. Most community mods offer one game experience; usually multi-player with a new twist on existing gameplay. The Over Dose mod will offer the gamer a completely new single player experience, including new levels, new weapons and new end bosses!
Painkiller has always been one of our studios favorite FPS titles; it came out when a shift in game play morphed the genre into something a bit more tactical and a lot less hair raising and Mindware just wanted to make something that got people’s blood pumping again.
History:
Overdose is something we have been toying with for a long time. The content really just fell together as we where working on different things and developing new techniques for producing levels and content. One afternoon our art director happened by a group of employees huddled around a desk watching someone play a new level that had been wired into the game and was just blown away.
Many project meetings later we approached the gang working on the levels with the idea of releasing a MOD and Project Overdose came into being!
There is still a lot of work to be done and we are only working on this as a side project but the game is looking fantastic and we will be updating the web site regularly with screen shots and other cool content so please check back regularly.
